Police Pursuit In Monte Vista Yields Multiple Charges & Arrests

On March 26, 2024, Officers with the Monte Vista Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle in which Austin Villagomez, 30, Alamosa was driving. Officers were aware that Villagomez had two outstanding felony warrants and is a suspect in a robbery. Villagomez refused to stop the vehicle, resulting in a pursuit. During the pursuit Villagomez never drove above 40 mph and eventually stopped where he was taken into custody.  At the time of the stop, his passenger, Delydia Naranjo, 49, Monte Vista was questioned and released.

Further investigation by Detectives resulted in a search warrant being executed in the 600 block of Morton Street where officers located Fentanyl, Methamphetamine and two weapons. Further investigation revealed the drugs and weapons were stored in an area where a young child had access to them. 

Villagomez was arrested on the original two outstanding warrants and the below listed charges. Naranjo was also arrested on numerous charges. Both Villagomez and Naranjo were booked into the Rio Grande County Jail.

The Monte Vista Police Department was assisted by the Rio Grande Sheriff’s Office in the apprehension of Villagomez and by the Colorado State Patrol with the search warrant.  

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
