A wildfire apparently sparked by a downed power line according to social media reports, consumed 200 acres in less then two hours Saturday night in southern Conejos County in the Fox Creek area. Highway 17 is closed nine miles south of Antonito, CO up to Mile Point 28, near Cumbres Pass.
There have been multiple engines, air resources, hot shot crews and a Type 3 Incident Commander have been ordered.
Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for the Ponderosa sub-division. The evacuation point is the South Conejos School District i Antonito. There is a pre-evacuation order for Orca, Rainbow Lodge, and up Conejos Canyon on FSR 205 to the Rocky Mountain Lodge.
