Earlier today, December 4, 2023, around 5:30 AM, Officers with the Monte Vista Police Department responded to the 500 block of Bronk Street for a male who was threatening family members and had barricaded himself in a room with multiple knives after causing damage to the inside of the residence.
All family members were safely removed from the home as well as the occupants of the adjoining townhome were evacuated while officers negotiated with the subject. The male was identified as Justice Quirova, 25, Monte Vista who has an extensive criminal history of resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and many other offenses.

Officers were able to successfully deploy pepper spray into the room and Quirova surrendered without further incident. After being medically cleared, Quirova was booked into the Rio Grande County Jail on charges of Criminal Mischief, Menacing, Obstructing a Peace Officer and Refusal to Leave Premises (Barricade).
