Monte Vista’s head coach Manny Wasinger recorded the 250th victory in his impressive coaching career on Friday with a 54-6 victory over the Ignacio Bobcats. Coach Waz is showing no signs of slowing down as his current team in undefeated 7-0 overall and is tied for first place with Centauri in league at 3-0.
Coach Wasinger is hoping to add another State Championship to the two he won with Alamosa earlier in his career. This years team is ranked in the top 5 in Colorado’s Class 1A, is averaging 51 points per game has net points of 277, outscoring the opposition by an average of 51.4 to 11.8. Pretty impressive when you consider the sportsmanship rule mandates a running clock once one team has a 40 point lead. The Pirates have scored 50 points in the first half of several of their games, causing Coach Waz to put back ups in for the second half of those games.
In two weeks on October 28th at 6pm, Monte Vista plays the defending State Champion Centauri Falcons. It’s likely both teams will be undefeated in league and be playing for the league championship. That game can be heard on 95.3 KYDN.
Congrats to Monte Vista Head Coach Manny Wasinger on an impressive career accomplishment!
