Authorities in Alamosa have confirmed that they are investigating theft of funds at a local business.
Alamosa County Sheriff Division Chief Ken Anderson, who was formerly the Chief of Police for the city of Alamosa, confirmed that the Sheriff’s Department has opened an investigation at Marty’s Maintenance, 6750 Cramer Rd. in Alamosa, for theft of funds. Sources tell KSLV the amount of the theft is in the $500,000 range.
On Marty’s Maintenance Facebook page a notice was posted, informing customers that the business was temporarily closed as a result of an investigation. “We are going to be temporarily closed due to an ongoing investigation. Unfortunately, we do not have a set date for reopening but as soon as we can start serving our wonderful clients again, we will be doing just that.”
A trip to Marty’s Maintenance revealed a red “Seized” sign on the door (See below) The sign states that the business has been seized by the Colorado Department of Revenue for nonpayment of taxes. It’s unclear if the theft of funds or the person of interest in the theft, are linked to the nonpayment of taxes. Attempts to reach the owners of Marty’s Maintenance have gone unreturned.
Last week we reported on theft of funds at the Monte Vista Emergency Food Bank totaling more than $100,000. KSLV has also learned that a person of interest is being investigated with ties to both the food bank and Marty’s Maintenance.
