Alamosa Police Department News Release

Alamosa, CO – On October 27th 2022, at approximately 4:10 PM, officers with the Alamosa Police Department responded to a report of a fight/disturbance in the 1200 Block of Denver Avenue. Almost immediately when officers arrived, a juvenile suspect produced a handgun and shot an Alamosa Police Officer. The officer was shot twice and was taken to the San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center and is currently undergoing surgery.

Officers also found an adult male who had been shot near the location of where the Alamosa officer was shot. He was rushed to San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center and is currently undergoing surgery.

The juvenile suspect is in custody and there are no further known dangers to the community.

Numerous agencies including the 12th Judicial District Attorney Anne Kelly, Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Alamosa Sheriff’s Office, Conejos County Sheriff’s Office, Monte Vista Police Department, Colorado Division of Wildlife and the Monte Vista Police Department are assisting the Alamosa Police.
