From Monte Vista PD;
On August 28, 2023, Detectives with the Monte Vista Police Department executed a search warrant for a residence in the 600 block of Morton Street within Monte Vista. They had obtained an arrest warrant for Blas Villa, 39, Monte Vista for 2nd Degree Assault and Menacing from an incident on July 31, 2023.
During the course of the investigation into the assault, Detectives learned that Villa and Aleta Molash, 42, were possibly distributing drugs out of a residence in the Lariat area. Detectives were able to obtained a search warrant for the aforementioned residence for drugs along with the arrest of Villa.
Upon executing the search warrant, Detectives seized Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, cash and a gun. Villa was arrested on the outstanding assault warrant and booked into the Rio Grande County Jail.
Molash was charged with distribution of a controlled substance, special offender because of the quantity of drugs and also booked into the Rio Grande County Jail.
Detectives seized approximately 4700 pills of Fentanyl (1.12 lbs), 9 ounces of Methamphetamine, several thousand dollars in cash and a handgun.
The Monte Vista Police were assisted by Detectives from Alamosa Police Department and Investigators from the Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Office. No further information will be released as this is an ongoing investigation.
All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
